Anna is an experienced corporate/commercial lawyer, with more than 20 years working with for-profits, not-for-profit organizations, and charities across Canada. Anna advises clients on all stages of a corporate life cycle, including contracts, governance documents, regulatory compliance, strategic planning, disputes amongst directors and members/shareholders, mergers, amalgamations, and tax reorganizations.

Anna started her career in 2004 on Bay Street in Toronto, but eventually moved her practice closer to home, and launched True North Law Professional Corporation in Whitby, Ontario in January 2022. True North Law is proud to be a women-owned and run boutique law firm and was very honoured to be awarded the 2025 Corporate Trailblazer Award by the WNN. Through True North Law, Anna assists each corporate client with determining and reaching its unique end goal – its True North™. On a personal level, True North Law is also dedicated to uplifting and supporting the next generation of dreamers. True North Law’s proudest accomplishment to date is the creation of the True North Scholarship program, which awards scholarships each year to high school graduates from Durham Region (Ontario), one from each of the following categories: BIPOC community, LGBTQIA+ community, one youth studying within Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir (in recognition of Anna’s French-Canadian heritage!), and one youth intending to pursue business or legal studies. Since 2024, nine scholarships have been awarded to bright young adults pursuing studies ranging from health sciences to theatre arts.

Anna’s focus through True North Law is not only to provide exceptional and timely legal services, but to contribute to its professional and local communities. Anna is a member of the Executive of the Charity/Not-for-Profit Section of the Ontario Bar Association and the Executive of both the Charity/Not-for-Profit Section and the Business Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association.  Anna is a frequent speaker and writer on legal matters of relevance to both for-profits and not-for-profits, is an Instructor for the Not-for-Profit Management Certificate Program offered by Ontario Tech University (since 2013), and has been a guest lecturer at Western University Law School, Seneca College, and Durham College on governance matters. A true Governance Geek™, Anna currently serves on the Imagine Canada Standards Council, which oversees the accreditation program of Imagine Canada designed to enhance the governance and operations of charities and non-profits in Canada. Anna has previously served as a Director, Secretary, and Chair of the Governance Committee for both Habitat for Humanity Durham and YWCA Durham, is currently pursuing her GPC.D designation as a governance professional, and is very excited to bring her passion for governance to the WNN!
