Meera Mahadeo
Meera Mahadeo is an emerging leader committed to strengthening community representation and expanding access to Canada’s public institutions.
As a Founding Board Director of the Women’s Nonprofit Network (WNN), she has helped establish Canada’s first nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing women’s careers in the sector. Since its inception, Meera has shaped WNN’s vision and advocacy, growing a national community of more than 4,000 professionals and creating new pathways for mentorship, equity, and leadership across the country.
Most recently, Meera worked as a Senior Consultant at one of Canada’s leading public affairs firms, where she specialized in government relations and designed advocacy strategies for nonprofit, healthcare, housing, and social services organizations. Her work also included Indigenous relations, supporting initiatives on reconciliation, treaty rights, and the Crown’s duty to consult.
Guided by her passion for advancing community-driven solutions, Meera is now pursuing a Juris Doctor (JD) at the Lincoln Alexander School of Law at Toronto Metropolitan University.
A graduate of Queen’s University, she has held leadership roles in several nonprofit organizations, including Queen’s Feminist Leadership in Politics (QFLIP) and Girl Up Canada.
She is also a certified mentor with Mentor Canada and has volunteered as a peer mentor at the Jean Augustine Centre for Young Women’s Empowerment, reflecting her strong commitment to supporting young people.
Recognized with the Canadian Federation of University Women’s Award, Meera is regarded as one of Canada’s most promising changemakers.
